Smile and Win a Kodak Digital Frame!
Kodak is helping us learn to use photos and technology to make it easier to cultivate meaningful relationships with the help of Judy Weiser, a psychologist and art therapist, who has been pioneering "Photo Therapy" techniques for the past 30 years.
While many of us are spread apart by the miles, it is easier than ever to reconnect using technology. It is not just text though - photos make it better! Looking at photos gives many of us emotional support by making us smile and laugh, improving our mood, and just making us feel better overall when we are having a bad day. With digital photography we can share our images in easier ways like email, posting to photo sharing sites, posting on social networking sites, and saving to mobile devices. There is always the option to print out our digital photos as well or scan in our traditional photographs to get a digital image of them.
Judy has shared some great PhotoTherapy techniques to use photos everyday to strengthen our relationships.
- Create a Picture-Perfect Environment: Decorate your space with photos with strong positive memories. We have a large collection of framed photos in one corner of our living room that I love to look at and add to.
- Share Your World: Share your photos with people close to you, even small stuff. Taylor spent one day making some found object crafts and decided to mail one to his Great Grandma who lives out of town. I included photos of him making it with the actual item. She couldn't be here in person, but she was able to see the love, care, and concentration he put into the project in the photos.
- Try a Photo Pick Me Up: Find a positive photo and carry it with you. Looking at that photo can help beat the blues when you are having a rough day. I have a picture of my cat, Peaches, on my iPhone that always makes me smile!
The Giveaway: Kodak is providing me with a Kodak EasyShare W1020 Wireless Digital Frame for one winner with a value of $229.95! WOW! This frame offers wireless access to your pictures at your fingertips with a 10" high-quality display, Wi-Fi enabled, Kodak's Quick Touch Border, access the latest news, weather, sports, and more, and automatically send and receive pictures from Kodak Gallery members right on your frame with the Picture Mail feature.
Extra Entries: The following are all extra things you can do for more entries. Leave an additional comment for each thing you do to earn extra entries.
- Blog about this giveaway on your own blog (please don’t copy my entire post onto your blog though). Leave the direct link to your post in your comment for an extra entry.

Some of my family is from out of state and we mostly keep in touch via email/networking sites such as Facebook. The pictures I take allow my family members to see what I've been up to and to stay up to date with what I have going on. They make for great conversation starters!

I used photos just last week to decorate an entire church hall for a family party. I had posters, collages, and single shots...even photos on t-shirts. They all made for great conversation starters!
My kids are growing up and getting ready to leave the nest. I would love to remind them of all the fun we had when they were growing up. Some of the trips we took and family visits were very special family together times. It will be difficult when they are gone (though some ways - I'm ready).
Photos help us revisit some wonderful memories. I love that my kids look at my scrapbooks and frames and talk about what is in the pictures. Thanks!
With friends and family living in other states, sharing photos allows us to stay connected

peg42 said what I would say. Most of my family lives 12 or more hours away (driving) and we don't see them often. I use my family photos to help my son 'know' the people (story for almost every pic)so he understands he is part of something much larger and these people love him even if he doesn't know them. I send them pics of him so they will recognize him when they see him, he is growing up so fast! Strangely, I have an almost phobia about having my own picture taken and hate the way I look in all pictures. (Tweet me at tkharmonic)

Photos help us preserve memories and keep friends and relatives close in our minds. Thanks.
We use pictures to keep in touch with family both near and far. The camera tends to capture little things that we miss.
my parents live in europe, pictures are a great way for them to see there grand kids doing everydau things.
Pictures are used both to encourage fond memories of past happenings, and to keep each other aware of what is happening in our rather far spread lives right now. This is especially true of the children who might not see some of the more extended family.

we take photos of our trips together to remind of us the good times we shared and also where we went.
Our family is spread around the country and we don't see each other much. I take pics of our events and send them to family so they feel like they were part of it even if they couldn't be there.

I live in Texas and my sons live in VA. I take photos and put them on my blog so the boys can see what I am doing each week. I post pictures of food I have made, in the hopes they will miss mama's home cooking, and I post pictures of the birds and others things I have seen during the week. It gives us something new to talk about and gives me a way to share my life with them even though we are so far away from each other.

There are moments to save,
I see from the corner of my eye, And I take a photo, sometimes inconspicuously,
Of time flying by....
And then I present it,
To a relative or friend,
I call them "surprises",
Sometimes they help to mend...
Relationships are like a stream
Of memories and forgotten moments,
When the little smiles, and holding hands, and pets and ordinary days...
come back to us like hugs,
It's like going to heaven...
On earth,
with photos!
