The Butterfly House

Last week we went to the Butterfly House with some of our homeschooling friends. I thought I would share a few of my pics - these were all taken with my iPhone. We have been visiting this place since Taylor was little and it is one of my favorite places in St. Louis. They have a huge area filled with tropical plants, waterfalls, and the butterflies. It is just so amazingly beautiful in there - even the humidity doesn't bother you so much because it is so pretty. They also have a big collection of insects which is always interesting (since they are behind the glass LOL), a fantastic short film about butterflies, an outdoor butterfly garden, and a great gift shop. I highly recommend you visit if you are in St. Louis! You can usually find a buy 1 get 1 free admission coupon to print out on the St. Louis Family Attractions page also.

Our zoo used to have a yearly butterfly exhibit with thousands of exotic butterflies. I enjoyed it so much and don't understand why they stopped having it. I am planting butterfly bushes this year to attract our own indigenous butterflies.

I arrived here through the T4L members map. I used to live right down the road from the Butterfly House and yes it is an incredible place. I miss St. Louis so much sometimes. I was born and raised in the county. Beautiful pics!

I used to live in the STL and I LOVED visiting the Butterfly House, they are so lovely to watch and so relaxing. I didn't however, like the insect exhibits outside - beetles, yuck!
